Review Text

  • By Mr. P. J. Keating on 4 October 2009

A very good description of the development of all the various marks of the three V-bombers together with a description of the fourth bomber, the Sperrin that was developed makes this a book that anyone with an interest in the technical side of the V-bombers would be happy tro have on their bookshelf. Operational matters are generally only covered in enough detail to provide a timeline of the Bombers' use by the Royal Air Force. There are some mistakes on dates for some units and identification of some of the aircraft models. Unfortunately, it would appear that authors of some subsequent V force books have used this book as an unimpeachable reference source and as a consequence have repeated this mistakes. V Bombers: Vulcan, Valiant and Victor (Profiles of Flight Series)

I purchased this book some time ago and had hoped for an accurate account of the Victor but sorry to say this is compiled by an author that does not know his aircraft in detail and it is basically a "Cut and Paste" job> I deal in Facts not Fiction. A waste if good money as far as I am concerned
